JAMMU, 3rd November: Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS) today paid rich tribute to Shaheed war hero Major Som Nath Sharma who gave his life defending Srinagar airport from attack by tribesmen together with Pak’s army on November 3, 1947.
Sabha Chairman, Ved Parkash Sharma and others paid floral tribute to Shaheed Major Som Nath during a ceremony held at the Sabha premises, Parade Ground Jammu, where speakers recalled the sacrifices of this great soldier.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice President Sharma said that remembering martyrs like Major Som Nath Sharma is in itself a matter of pride for the nation. He said that after Major Sharma’s martyrdom, almost his entire family joined the Indian Army, setting an example that one family member’s sacrifices cannot demoralize others.
While paying a rich tribute to Maj. Som Nath Sharma, Chairman of Tawi Andolan and top BJP leader Chander Mohan Sharma said the current situation in the state demands that the people take inspiration from the supreme sacrifices of the brave soldiers and stands alongside the army and the paramilitaries. forces to respond appropriately to Pakistan for its ceasefire violations and border firings. Sharma also demanded to name either of the airports in the state on Major Som Nath Sharma.
